Pastoral – Sixth Form

Pastoral

Our Sixth Form is led by the Director of Sixth Form, who is responsible for strategic matters, whilst the Senior Tutors are responsible for the day to day life of our students.

Pastoral and academic concerns are normally referred to the Senior Tutor and occasionally through to the Director of Sixth Form for more serious issues.

Tutor System

Although we are a large Sixth Form, our tutor groups are small to ensure our students receive greater individual attention. In addition, tutor groups are attached to a Senior Tutor (Head of Year). The Senior Tutor is an experienced member of the team who can provide additional help and support for both academic and pastoral matters. Each Senior Tutor looks after six groups, a total of approximately 75 Year 12 and Year 13 students.

We believe our unique structure gives students all the benefits of a large Sixth Form with the pastoral care and attention to detail you would expect from a smaller one.

Learning Advisors

Our Learning Advisors work in the Wilden Room and provide additional one-to-one academic mentoring and support that focuses on building confidence and learning important time management strategies to help reduce the stress of A Level study.

Counsellors

In addition to the robust pastoral support provided by our tutors, senior tutors and the Director of Sixth Form, we have a dedicated member of the wellbeing team based within our Sixth Form Centre. Our Student Support Assistants provide both ad-hoc and ongoing support to students, offering them space and time to offload on difficult days as well as advice and strategies on managing emotions and navigating challenging situations. Our Sixth Form students can also access our school counselling service should they wish to explore a specific difficulty in more depth.
