Mrs L Hoare (Singing)
Louise Hoare is a professional opera singer and singing teacher. She studied music at the University of Durham (BA hons) and then gained her professional performance diploma in singing at the Royal Northern College of Music. She has sung in the United Kingdom and abroad with opera companies including Scottish Opera, English National Opera and D’Oyly Carte, in the chorus and as a soloist, and as a concert soloist. She is classically trained but also teaches and performs musical theatre and popular music.
She has taught students through the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), Trinity, and London College of Music (LCM) Music Theatre exams, Grades 1 – 8 and beyond. She has taught singing at various schools, including BMS since 2009 and Bedford Greenacre Independent School since 2022, and also teaches singing and piano privately. She gives vocal workshops and masterclasses and has coached professional singers. Louise also has experience teaching anxious students and neurodivergent individuals. Singing is a remarkable resource to develop many life skills, including greater body awareness and how to stand well, building confidence and personal presentation skills, and managing anxiety using the breath.
Students explore a wide range of songs, work towards finding their individual voice, and develop their singing and performance skills. Plus, when they are ready, if they would like to work towards taking singing exams, they look at the various components of exam requirements, including performance, presentation, aural, sight reading and theory, as necessary. The most important aspect of course, is that they have fun learning to sing.
