Nearly New Shop
Nearly New Shop
About Us
We are very proud of our shop. The Nearly New Shop is managed by dedicated parent volunteers who generously contribute their time to provide this wonderful service. We always need extra help with this busy enterprise, and we sincerely appreciate all volunteers for their efforts and enthusiasm.
The Nearly New Shop initiative gives back in so many wonderful ways:
Buy – you can buy great condition uniform and kit for a fraction of the new price
Sell – sell your old uniform in the Nearly New Shop and we give you 75% of the sale price back!
Donate – fully donate your old uniform and 100% of sales goes into the fundraising pot
Charity – any uniform or kit we can’t sell goes to charity or is recycled
Fundraise – a practical way to raise funds for the school
Social – volunteers come to help in the shop and meet other parents, have a natter and a cuppa!
How you can help…
Within every bag you bring along to sell, perhaps you might consider donating some items – maybe smaller items like socks and hats can always be donated? A great way to help if you can’t volunteer time.
Donate/Sell
How to Donate/Sell Your Items
We welcome BMS school uniform and kit in good condition. We kindly ask that all items are clean/washed, ironed and labelled.
You can download labels here. Please print these at home (on card is best if possible) or pick them up from the Nearly New Shop or BMS main reception. We have a supply of card labels – these stay attached to your sale items much better.
You can choose whether to sell your items and receive money back or donate fully. Please label your items accordingly.
All items can be left at the BMS Estates Office or brought along to the shop during our opening hours.
Please note that we do not currently stock boys’ shirts or trousers – if you would like to donate these we would happily accept them as donations for our outreach schools.

FAQs
1. I can’t make one of the scheduled shop opening dates. Can the shop be opened at another time?
Unfortunately, we are unable to open the shop outside the published dates. The Nearly New Shop is run entirely by parent volunteers, and we do not have the capacity to offer individual appointments. All opening dates are published on the NNS webpage, shared via class WhatsApp groups, and communicated through school emails.
2. My child has lost an item of clothing. Can you check whether it has been handed in to the Nearly New Shop?
We would love to help reunite families with lost items, but our volunteers sort through hundreds of pieces of uniform during each opening. We are therefore unable to check individual labels or search for specific lost property. For lost property enquiries, please contact the school reception directly or check the school’s lost property box. We also recommend re-labelling any second-hand items when purchased so they can be returned promptly if misplaced.
3. I can’t make a shop open date. Can someone pick up the items I need and drop them at school?
We would like to help, but we currently do not have the volunteer capacity to offer a personal pick-up or delivery service, including managing any returns. If you cannot attend an open session, you may wish to ask another parent from your year group who is planning to visit the shop. If you are not on your class WhatsApp group but would like to join, please email nearlynewshop@bedmod.co.uk and we will be happy to assist.
4. How can I pay for items in the Nearly New Shop?
We accept card payments only. Cash cannot be accepted.
5. Where do the funds raised by the Nearly New Shop go?
All profits go directly to the BMSPA to support school projects and enrichment activities that benefit all pupils. By shopping with or donating to the NNS, you are helping fund valuable extras for the school community – thank you.
6. I dropped off some items a while ago. Why haven’t I received a cheque?
There are several possible reasons:
- The item has not yet sold.
- The item was un-labelled and therefore treated as a donation.
- No contact details were provided, so we were unable to send a cheque.
- Your labelled items have sold, and we have your details – great news! Cheques are issued annually in September for items sold during the academic year.
7. I’m looking for a specific item (e.g. a size 24L blazer). Can you confirm stock before I come?
We carry a good range of sizes across all commonly used uniform items, and our stock changes frequently based on donations and sales. As the shop is run entirely by volunteers, we do not have the capacity to check availability or reserve individual items in advance.
We recommend visiting one of our open sessions to see what is currently available.
8. Can I return or exchange purchases?
Yes. If an item does not fit or is damaged, please visit our next open session for an exchange. If an exchange is not possible, we can offer a refund.
9. What condition should items be in to donate them?
We accept clean, good-quality school uniform items in good condition.
We cannot sell:
- Damaged or heavily worn items
- Stained items
- Unwashed clothing
Items unsuitable for sale will be donated to our outreach partner schools and charities.
10. How should I label items for resale?
Please attach a completed Nearly New Shop label securely to each item and include your address and contact details.
Un-labelled items will be treated as donations and will not be processed for resale. Labels can be found here: NEARLY NEW SHOP LABELS
11. How much of the sale price do I receive?
Families receive 75% of the sale price of sold items. The remaining 25% goes to the BMSPA to support school initiatives.
12. Where can I pick up labels?
Labels printed on card are available from BMS Main Reception or from the Nearly New Shop during open sessions.
