Outstanding Success for BMS at the County Swimming Championships 23 February 2026

Over three weekends of competition, fifteen Bedford Modern School swimmers delivered exceptional performances across a wide range of events. Highlights included multiple County Championship titles, a host of personal bests, and several students achieving regional qualifying times – some even edging close to national standards. 

 

Student Spotlights

Ella (Year 9)

We are exceptionally proud of Year 9 student Ella, who delivered an incredible performance during the first weekend of county swimming competitions. 

Ella secured places in three finals – the 100m backstroke, 100m freestyle, and 100m breaststroke – showcasing her talent, determination, and versatility in the pool. 

The highlight of the weekend was Ella’s phenomenal swim in the 100m breaststroke, where she claimed: 

⭐ Gold in the 15-year-old age group 

⭐ The title of 100m Breaststroke Junior Champion 

⭐ 3rd place across all age groups 

That’s three medals and a cup from one race – an extraordinary achievement! 

Ella’s success is a testament to her hard work and commitment, and we couldn’t be prouder.

 

Nimi (Year 5)

A huge congratulations to Nimi, who delivered an exceptional set of results and showcased incredible determination in the pool.

Not only did she secure a regional qualifying time in the 100m freestyle – a whole year early – but she also dominated the 50m breaststroke, winning the event by an impressive three seconds.

Across the competition, Nimi collected an amazing 10 medals:

Her consistency and talent shone through in every event, earning her an overall 2nd place ranking for her age group.

Well done, Nimi! Your hard work is paying off, and we can’t wait to see what you achieve next.

 

Seb (Year 10)

A huge congratulations to Seb for an exceptional set of performances. His hard work, dedication, and competitive spirit were on full display as he achieved some remarkable results:

⭐ Silver – 50m Butterfly
Seb secured second place with an incredible 2.7-second personal best, showcasing both speed and precision in the pool.

⭐ Bronze – Junior Championships, 50m Butterfly
Another strong swim earned him a well-deserved bronze in the junior category, reflecting his consistency across the competition.

⭐ Bronze – 100m Butterfly
Seb rounded off his success with a bronze medal in the 100m fly, smashing his previous time with an astonishing 11.6-second personal best.

We are incredibly proud of Seb’s achievements – his determination and passion continue to shine through. A brilliant set of results and a fantastic example of what can be accomplished with focus and perseverance.

 

Kuba (Year 8)

We’re delighted to celebrate an outstanding set of results from Kuba. His determination, stamina, and technical skill have led to an impressive collection of achievements:

Regional Qualifying Times achieved in: 1500m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly, 100m Butterfly, 200m Butterfly

Kuba’s performances across multiple events were exceptional, earning him an incredible overall 3rd place for his age group – a testament to his hard work and growing strength as a competitive swimmer.

We are immensely proud of Kuba’s success and the dedication he brings to his training. A brilliant set of results and an exciting sign of even more to come!

These results are also a testament to our outstanding facilities, including our indoor 30‑metre pool, and the commitment of our dedicated teaching staff, who provide one‑to‑one coaching and bespoke guidance for our young elite athletes through our Sports Performance Programme.
