Director of Admissions, Marketing and Communications

Bedford Modern School (BMS) is an outstanding HMC independent co-educational day school for students aged 7–18. Our community is a friendly, happy and supportive one, and all of the 350 staff members, spanning both teaching and non-teaching roles, help to make BMS a very special place to work.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and visionary professional to lead our Admissions, Marketing and Communications function. This is a key strategic role within the school, reporting directly to the Head and sitting on the Leadership Team.

This role is central to driving student recruitment, enhancing stakeholder engagement, and maintaining the school’s strong market position. The postholder will lead the development and implementation of a cohesive brand and communications strategy, ensuring that the school’s values and reputation are consistently represented across all platforms. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of a thriving independent school and make a lasting impact on its community.

We are looking for a dynamic individual with a proven track record in strategic marketing, communications and brand management. You will be an inspiring leader, capable of managing a high-performing team and collaborating across departments to deliver outstanding results. While prior experience in the education sector is not essential, an understanding of the independent school landscape and the factors influencing parental choice is highly desirable.

In return, we can offer a friendly and supportive working environment, CPD opportunities available through our membership of the Harpur Trust, the option to be part of a private healthcare scheme, a generous pension scheme, free lunches (in term time), free parking, and generous fee remission on Harpur Trust school fees (subject to availability and entrance requirements).
