Junior School Head’s Blog – 24 Jun
Junior School Head’s Blog
I have to begin by saying what a fantastic performance the children gave last week in Fantastic Mr Fox; they certainly wowed us with their performance. It was a superb culmination to several weeks of hard work and they did themselves and BMS proud. Very well done to everyone who was involved, both children and staff, as it is events like this that makes our school special. A big thank you must go to all the children and parents who came to support them too – the audience certainly lift the performances to a different level.
Last week the U10 Girls’ Cricket Team performed exceptionally well at the County Cricket Finals and despite playing at an event aimed at the year above, they came away victorious. A real accolade – many congratulations to all involved!
Today we have our annual Sports Day and I hope that the weather stays on our side. I have been tracking the forecast for the past week and I am not be able to predict what we will be eventually dealt with on the actual afternoon. As per the message relayed via my Blog last week the children have been asked to come to school in their PE kit with House Tshirt (so that they are less likely to lose any uniform items) and they should also have sun cream, a school cap and plenty of water to drink.
Year 5 will be taking their fully immersive trip to Holdenby House on Friday 28 June. This is a new venue for us and although previous ventures have ensured that the children have a fantastic and informative time (and dressing up always bolsters the experience!) the shorter journey should make it a better day for everyone.
Friday evening sees our musicians demonstrate their talent in the evening at the Summer Concert – I am very much looking forward to this as it always proves to be a lovely evening. If the Music Prizes of just over a week ago are anything to go by, the standard will be exceptional yet again!
And this weekend is a particularly busy one for cricket fixtures with all year groups and genders set to play – please keep an eye on your email messages.
