Junior School Head’s Blog 20 January 2020

On Friday we were entertained by 5MVP in Assembly and their chosen theme was celebrations, festivals and traditions. To be taken on a tour from New Year through Cheese Rolling and May Day to Morris Dancing was a real treat and a great end to the week. Very well done, 5MVP and Mrs Phillips!

It was a real pleasure to see so many candidates visiting us for their assessments last week and again on Saturday morning. Our own children were absolutely brilliant at keeping very quiet as they moved around the school whilst the computer assessments took place – they were a real credit.

Our cross country teams have already had a spectacular start to their season with both the boys and girls teams coming in third place at their first fixture, despite the very gusty winds. This certainly bodes well for the rest of their fixtures – well done everyone!

I look forward to seeing all the children who are taking part in the Performing Arts Showcase this Thursday (23 January). The arrangements for the event will have been communicated to you already and the event will begin at 4.30pm with a view to finishing before 6pm.

There tend to be far fewer trips out for the children at this time of year, primarily due to the potential weather risks, but this does allow us to concentrate on the work they do in the classroom. The fixture list has already started – keep an eye on those emails. All clubs are also now up and running, so the children will no doubt continue to be busy and tired by the end of the week!
