Junior School Head’s Blog 11 November 2019
My sincere thanks must also go to all the children, staff and parents who were involved in Open Day on Saturday. There were a large number of visitors to the school and it was very encouraging to see so many people who are interested in finding our more about what we do at BMS.
Thanks also go to 6EAW for their Assembly last Friday which told us a bit more about Remembrance Day and why it is so important to take a pause and think about all those who have lost their lives protecting our country. It was a very informative and moving assembly – well done, 6EAW and Mr Warren.
Today we will be holding our sponsored Zumbathon between 1.30pm and 2pm to help raise funds for The Mind Map charity. Following the inaugural event we held last year I hope that the children enjoy this fun and energetic way of breaking up their day, getting some fresh air and exercise and raising money at the same time! Thank you in advance for your support.
Wednesday 13 November, rather fortuitously, sees the second part of The Mind Map event for parents following the first very successful session which took place before half term. This is for parents of children in Year 3, 4 and 5, with an additional session for those parents of children in Year 6 set to take place on Thursday 21 November. Both events begin at 7pm in the CFHall. Please contact the Junior School Office if you require further information.
Thursday 14 November is when we will be holding our first Parents’ Evening between 6 and 8pm, with the second round taking place on Tuesday 19 November (between 4 and 6pm). I look forward to seeing many of you at some point over the two evenings. As mentioned in previous communications, please leave your children in the care of someone else where possible, as this is an event for parents only. Thank you.
Friday 15 November is our first ‘Non-Uniform Day’. These are pre-determined days when the children who have managed to keep any of their uniform points are entitled to wear mufti for the day. I hope that most, if not all the children enjoy this treat to recognise their effort with regard to keeping smart at school. If you wish to know when the others are taking place the dates can be found at the back of your child’s planner.
The U11 Hockey team will be leaving for their short tour of North London whilst the U11 Rugby team are leaving for their short tour to the West Country on Friday. I am sure that they will thoroughly enjoy their trips and be true ambassadors for BMS during their time away. My thanks also go to the staff who are accompanying the boys on this trip.
And finally…the BMSPA are planning to run their Annual Family Quiz on the evening of Saturday 23 September. This has been a hugely successful event in the past and they have asked me to remind you all that the extended deadline for tickets is now Thursday of this week (14 November).
