Junior School Head’s Blog 30 September 2019

As stated at the end of last week’s blog, all children should be wearing winter uniform at school from now on.

Thank you to 6PSP for their great assembly on the theme of resilience, not giving up and maintaining a positive mind-set.  I am sure that everyone took something away from the assembly with such a great focus – well done, 6PSP and Mrs Pacyna!

The cake sales organised by Mrs Westbrook and the Charities Club in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care, alongside the event supported by the BMSPA on the same day raised a massive £561.69 – what an amazing amount and a delicious way to raised funds for charity.  Well done to everyone involved!

Our next charitable venture will be a collection for the Bedford Foodbank which will be run from 07 – 14 October.  We have a representative from Foodbank coming in on 10 October to take an assembly which will hopefully highlight the collection to the children but I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know the items they find particularly useful.  This includes; UHT Milk, tinned spaghetti hoops, tinned fruit, tinned vegetables, 500g packs of rice, tinned rice pudding, packs of Cup-a-soup, tinned tuna, deodorant and cleaning spray.  Donations will need to be in school at the latest by Monday 14 October.  Thank you in advance for your support with this as it replaces our Harvest collection from previous years.

It seems that our sports’ teams, from all ability groups, are performing extremely well so far this year.  We have already clocked up several wins and I know that the children are learning from any fixtures that they have played.  Thank you to all the staff involved and also to the parents for their support.  It is a particularly busy Saturday this week with plenty of children involved – I wish all the teams the best of luck.

Looking ahead again…

House Music is due to take place on Friday 11 October, so make sure those House T-shirts are washed and ironed in anticipation. This year’s theme, I am delighted to report, is 1970s Pop and 1950s Film songs!  It all sounds very exciting and once again I can dig out my old vinyls from the loft and sing along very loudly (in the comfort of my own home!).

Here’s to another activity-packed week…
