Rowing Coaches

Immediate start required

Bedford Modern School (BMS) is an HMC Independent Co-educational Day School located on the outskirts of Bedford. Our facilities are excellent and include a separate Junior School, dedicated Sixth Form building and purpose-built Science Centre. Our students have access to impressive sports facilities, which include a strength and conditioning suite with two specific strength and conditioning coaches, ergo room and large boathouse on the banks of the River Ouse.

We wish to appoint high-calibre Rowing Coaches to assist the Director of Rowing with the delivery of the School’s rowing programme. The successful candidates will be inspirational, experienced and able to work with novice crews right through to the senior squad.

The role requires coaches who ideally have experience of working with young people in a sporting or educational setting, and it would be desirable for them to hold a British Rowing qualified L2 (or equivalent).

The hours are varied and would suit applicants willing to work as and when required in line with the Rowing programme. This will include some weekends and school holidays. There is also a requirement to accompany students on rowing trips, including tours, training camps and regattas.

In return, we can offer a supportive working environment, competitive salary, CPD opportunities through our membership of The Harpur Trust, a generous pension scheme, and free lunches (in term time).

Closing date: Friday 5th July 2024

Interviews: w/c 8th July 2024

Further details and how to apply can be found on our website: https://www.bedmod.co.uk/job-opportunities/.

Any internal candidates must apply through Employee Self Service.  Please see the guide in the company news area.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).  The School may carry out online searches on shortlisted applicants.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.  The School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions on a self-declaration form in advance of attending an interview.
