Lead Senior Nurse

Bedford Modern School is an HMC Independent Co-educational Day School located on the outskirts of Bedford. Our facilities are excellent and include a separate Junior School, dedicated Sixth Form building and extensive sports facilities. We offer a premium education, with a wide and varied curriculum, where the intellectual needs of each pupil is given priority.

We are looking to appoint an experienced and suitably qualified Lead Senior Nurse to lead and manage the school nursing team. This pivotal role will oversee the delivery of high-quality nursing care within NMC guidelines to the whole school community.

Working closely with staff and parents and external healthcare providers you will provide a comprehensive healthcare service to students and promote a healthy and supportive school environment. This role will include, providing immediate medical treatment for minor injuries and illnesses, managing and coordinating day-to-day healthcare operations, including first aid, chronic illness management and health promotion whilst ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and school policies and maintaining accurate and confidential records in line with GDPR requirements.

You therefore must be qualified to Registered Nurse Level 1 standard, have post registration experience in child or young people nursing, knowledge of safeguarding children in education, hold or be prepared to obtain a HSE approved First Aid at Work Certificate.

You will have a genuine interest in delivering positive outcomes for young people, have excellent communication, counselling and listening skills, can adapt quickly to changing situations and work collaboratively as part of a busy team.

This position is for 37.5 hours per week, 10am – 6pm (with half an hour unpaid lunchbreak), Monday to Friday, term-time plus one week in the school holidays. There is also the expectation that the postholder will work some Saturdays to cover sporting fixtures and events.
