Graduate Sports Assistant

Required from September 2022 – one year contract in the first instance

We are looking for an enthusiastic graduate to assist with the teaching and coaching of games, teams and co-curricular sport and PE from Year 3 to Year 13 at Bedford Modern School.

The position will appeal to graduates who are looking to develop their skills and gain experience for a potential career in teaching or sports coaching. In recent years, several Sports Assistants have gone on to complete their PGCE at BMS, which has led to them securing full time teaching positions.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated and fully prepared to undertake the demands of working in an outstanding co-educational day school; including assisting with the day to day operational demands of the busy Sports Faculty.

Formal coaching qualifications in any of the school’s main sports (Hockey, Netball, Cricket or Rugby) to minimum UKCC level 1 or equivalent are desirable but not essential. Development opportunities will be available to support the successful applicant.

Applications are welcome from graduates in any subject. Some classroom teaching may be offered if appropriate, depending on the subject and experience of the person appointed.

In return, in addition to the salary, we can offer an accommodation allowance, free parking, free lunch during term time, a private healthcare scheme and access to the school gym, as well as a friendly working environment.

Closing date: Monday 02 May 2022

Interview: W/C 09 May 2022

The Harpur Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check, references and other relevant checks.
