Graduate Sports Assistant

Graduate Sports Assistant

Required for September 2024 – One year contract

Bedford Modern School (BMS) is an outstanding HMC independent co-educational day school for students aged 7-18. Our community is a friendly, happy and supportive one and all of the 350 staff members, spanning both teaching and non-teaching roles, help to make BMS a very special place to work.

We are seeking a strong graduate to assist with the teaching and coaching of games, teams and co-curricular sport and PE across Bedford Modern School.

The position will appeal to graduates who are looking to develop their skills and gain experience for a potential career in teaching or sports coaching. For the right candidate, the position carries with it an opportunity to undertake a PGCE qualification after a successful first year.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated and fully prepared to undertake the demands of working in an outstanding co-educational day school, including assisting with the day to day operational demands of the busy Sports Faculty.

Formal coaching qualifications in any of the school’s main sports (Hockey, Netball, Cricket or Rugby) to minimum UKCC level 1 or equivalent are desirable but not essential. Development opportunities will be available to support the successful applicant.

Applications are welcome from graduates in any subject. Some classroom teaching may be offered if appropriate, depending on the subject and experience of the person appointed.

In return, we can offer a friendly and supportive working environment, CPD opportunities available through our membership of the Harpur Trust, the option to be part of a private healthcare scheme, a generous pension scheme, free lunches (in term time), free access to the school gym and free parking.

We encourage applications from all communities as we want to have a workforce that reflects the social, cultural and ethnic diversity of our students.
