Headmaster’s Blog 08 January 2020
Welcome back to a new year and another busy term here at Bedford Modern School. This week our Year 11 students started their all-important trial GCSE examinations and seem to be taking it all in their stride. They have assured me that they managed their holiday time efficiently with a good balance between rest and revision.
I look forward to attending the usual outstanding array of sporting fixtures which are due to take place during the course of the next few weeks. Rugby and hockey are largely replaced by football and netball and this weekend looks to be a very busy one both home and away. I am always impressed by the variety of co-curricular activities in which our students participate from all year groups and feel sure that we will have much to celebrate before the term is over.
As well as sport there is also a wealth of dance, drama and musical performances this term including the senior production of Our Country’s Good in March which will feature a live score, composed and performed entirely by BMS students. For more details on this and other events do take a look at the Modern Arts brochure in the co-curricular section of the BMS website under Performance Arts.
On Saturday it will be my pleasure to welcome those students who hope to join us in Years 7, 8 and 9 next year. I really enjoy speaking to as many of the boys and girls as possible during the day as they take the opportunity to learn more about life at BMS and make new friends. Thankfully, despite the rigours of the assessment process, there are always plenty of happy faces by the time they leave which is exactly as it should be.
