Learning beyond the classroom
Learning extends beyond the core curriculum through specialist teaching, educational visits, performances, sport and a wide range of enrichment opportunities. These experiences encourage students to discover their interests, embrace challenge and grow in confidence.

A broad and ambitious curriculum
Discovering new possibilities
Students begin their Junior School journey with a strong focus on core literacy and numeracy whilst being introduced to a wide range of specialist subjects. Science encourages investigation through topics such as plants, forces, light and the natural world. Humanities develops an understanding of history, geography and religion, while French introduces modern language learning. Through art, design technology, music, drama, computing and sport, students develop creativity, communication skills and confidence.

Years 3-6Â |Â Building Knowledge, Character and Confidence
A broad and ambitious curriculum
The Junior School curriculum is designed to inspire curiosity, build strong academic foundations and develop confident, well-rounded students. Across Years 3 to 6, students experience a rich blend of academic study, creative exploration, languages, sport and personal development. The breadth of the curriculum ensures that every child can discover new interests while developing the skills required for future success.
Year 3: discovering new possibilities
Students begin their Junior School journey with a strong focus on core literacy and numeracy whilst being introduced to a wide range of specialist subjects. Science encourages investigation through topics such as plants, forces, light and the natural world. Humanities develops an understanding of history, geography and religion, while French introduces modern language learning. Through art, design technology, music, drama, computing and sport, students develop creativity, communication skills and confidence.
Year 4: developing knowledge and independence
As students mature, they broaden their understanding across the curriculum. English and mathematics become increasingly analytical, while science explores topics including electricity, habitats and sound. Humanities topics such as Invaders and Settlers, rivers and world faiths help students make connections between people, places and cultures. Creative subjects encourage experimentation and self-expression, and digital skills continue to develop through research, coding and communication.
Year 5: encouraging curiosity and critical thinking
Year 5 places greater emphasis on independence, collaboration and enquiry. Students explore fascinating topics including Ancient Greece, the Tudors, Earth and Space, and extreme climates. French vocabulary and conversational skills expand, while computing develops game design, spreadsheets and physical computing. Students continue to challenge themselves through artistic projects, music-making, design challenges and a comprehensive sporting programme.
Year 6: preparing for senior school
Year 6 provides a purposeful bridge to Senior School. Students refine their writing, reasoning and problem-solving skills while studying topics such as evolution, environmental change and modern British history. Alongside French, students are introduced to Spanish, broadening their linguistic horizons. Computing introduces blogging and artificial intelligence concepts, while leadership, teamwork and resilience are fostered through sport, drama and collaborative learning experiences.
Creative arts
Art, Design Technology, Music and Drama play an important role throughout the Junior School experience. Students experiment with a variety of artistic techniques, undertake practical design-and-make projects, develop musical understanding through performance and composition, and build confidence through drama and public speaking opportunities.
Sport, wellbeing and personal development
Physical Education, Games and Swimming are valued elements of school life. Students develop technical skills, fitness, resilience and teamwork through a programme that includes rugby, football, hockey, netball, cricket, athletics, gymnastics and swimming. Competitive opportunities and key skills sessions help students grow in confidence both on and off the field.
Preparing students for the future
By the end of Year 6, students have developed strong academic foundations alongside the confidence, creativity, curiosity and character needed to thrive in Senior School and beyond. The curriculum is carefully designed to ensure that every student is challenged, supported and inspired throughout their Junior School journey.
