Pastoral care

Every child known. Every child supported.

At Bedford Modern Junior School, pastoral care sits at the heart of the student experience.

A culture of respect

We believe children thrive when they feel happy, confident and valued. From the moment they join us, students are supported by dedicated form tutors who know them as individuals and help them develop the confidence, resilience and emotional awareness needed to flourish both in and beyond the classroom.

Our nurturing environment encourages children to celebrate their strengths, build positive relationships and develop the skills to navigate challenges with confidence. Through wellbeing programmes, PSHE and daily interactions, students learn the importance of kindness, responsibility and respect for others.

A strong sense of belonging

Small class sizes ensure that every child is known and supported, while our House system creates a strong sense of belonging and community. Alongside this, close partnerships with parents help us provide consistent support and encouragement throughout each student’s journey.

Above all, our pastoral approach helps students feel safe, valued and ready to make the most of every opportunity available to them.

Children achieve their best when they know they belong.
