IT Systems Development Engineer

Following a comprehensive review of IT services and staffing, part driven by the switch to online learning and the increasing reliance on IT across all school departments, the IT Department is essential to the education and development of our 1200 students and the working practices of our 250 plus employees.

You will be required to provide a high-quality IT Server Infrastructure support function to School and Harpur Trust users and external suppliers, which meets or exceeds agreed SLAs and conforms to industry best practices. This will include but is not limited to Data Centre Hardware, Server operating Systems, Outsourced Managed Services and Server based Software Solutions.

The IT Systems Development Engineer will have responsibility for the development, improvement and maintenance of new and existing ICT Systems and technical Projects within the team but will also be able to work flexibly to provide second/third line ICT support as required, whilst ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance, and security. This position involves effective project management and thorough documentation of technical projects.

You will also have responsibility for providing technical assurance and escalation to members of the IT Services Support team and will be required to attend the Harpur Trust Office on at least a weekly basis to provide technical support to the users.

The IT Systems Development Engineer will also be required to deputise for the ICT Services and Innovation Manager in their absence.
This is a key role and the person appointed will need to be well motivated and proactive in their approach to the job. Given the pace of development in technology, a flexible and adaptable attitude to change is essential.

Salary circa £40k dependant on skills and experience.
