Life at Bedford Modern School extends far beyond the classroom.

A rich and varied co-curricular programme encourages students to explore new interests, develop existing talents and discover passions that can last a lifetime.

Opportunities to Explore

With a wide range of clubs, societies, creative activities, leadership opportunities and competitive sport available throughout the week, every student is encouraged to get involved and make the most of School life. Whether pursuing interests in STEM, debating, music, drama, outdoor adventure or community action, there are opportunities for everyone to challenge themselves, develop new skills and build lasting friendships.

Adventure, Community & Service

Outdoor learning plays a key role in the experience. Building on foundations established in earlier years, students can take part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Combined Cadet Force and a range of expeditions and adventurous activities that foster resilience, confidence and independence.

Students also belong to one of six Houses, bringing the School community together through a packed programme of sporting, artistic, musical and academic competitions. Alongside this, community service and charitable initiatives encourage students to make a meaningful contribution beyond the School gates and develop a strong sense of social responsibility.

With opportunities to lead, serve, compete, create and explore, co-curricular life at BMS helps every student develop into a confident, well-rounded young person.
