Junior School Head’s Blog 16 September 2019

As mentioned in last week’s blog, class and individual photographs will be taken today.  You will soon receive information about how to order copies through the Gillman and Soame’s website if you wish.

One curriculum trip will take place this week.  On Tuesday Year 3 will be going to Whipsnade Zoo to support their Humanities and Science studies.  I am sure that they will have a great day.

Thursday afternoon will see our annual House Team Building event.  All the children have been asked to come into school wearing their PE Kit and house t-shirt.  This was a great event last year and always gives the children a chance to develop a sense of house identity.

May I politely remind you that all visitors to the Junior School, for safety reasons, should make themselves known to Reception in the first instance.  The student entrances are only for children who attend BMS.  This applies to all the buildings on the site – staff will politely challenge anyone who is inside a building without any identification.

In addition, any messages that need to reach the children during the school day should be emailed or telephoned through to the Junior School office (cmayfield@bedmod.co.uk  / 01234 332513) and not to the form teachers who will be teaching and may not pick up any emails until after the end of school.  If possible, please use the planners to communicate with the staff or to alert us to any changes in regular collection arrangements.

It certainly feels like we’ve been back at school for a long time and by the end of this week, we will have completed our first full cycle of the timetable. I do hope that all your children are beginning to feel settled now and getting used to life in their new year group at BMS. As I walk around the school I see lots of smiling faces which I take to be a good indication that this is indeed the case!

Advanced notice – the Charities Club are holding a MacMillan Cake Sale on Thursday 26 September.  Any monetary donations which allow your children to indulge in a piece of cake will be very welcome as we raise funds for the very worthy MacMillan Cancer Care charity.
