Spanish at A Level follows the AQA specification. There two specialist teachers for each class at A Level, and students have 12 periods per two-week cycle plus two conversation sessions with the native-speaker Spanish assistant.
As part of the course, students are given a wide range of modern books, magazines and other study materials for use in school and at home. We encourage the production of work electronically; this enables students to send work to teachers at any time and receive rapid responses.
Topics for study at AS include media, cinema, fashion, healthy lifestyles, relationships with friends. At A Level students study contemporary social issues and cultural topics such as art, painting, film, or the work of a Spanish writer. We encourage students to spend time in a Spanish-speaking country, either on a course of study or doing work experience. Some students continue to study for a degree in Spanish.
