Year 6 student, Lucian Cox, picked up a Gold Award in the recent Primary Mathematics Challenge Bonus Round, his score putting him in the top 5% of the competition. Congratulations also go to Lorcan Hegarty and Aleksi Lewis who picked up Silver Awards, and to Aaryan Berry, Oliver Higgins, Soren Knuffel and Thomas Wildman who received Bronze Awards.
The Primary Mathematics Challenge, which took place in November, is a fun and exciting mathematical competition aimed at students in Years 5 and 6. The highest scoring students are then put forward to compete in the Bonus Round, and a total of eleven BMS students took part on 06 February. Whilst the November challenge is an in-school event, the Bonus Round sees students competing on an international level, with participants coming from as far as Bahrain, Russia, Singapore and the USA.
Junior School Head, Joanna Rex, commented: “The Year 6 mathematicians created a School record this year and I am very proud of their achievement. To have had so many of them qualify for the Bonus Round was impressive, so for them to also achieve a Gold, two Silver and four Bronze certificates between them is truly outstanding. Congratulations to them all!”
