Record Placings for Speech and Drama Students at Bedfordshire Festival 2019

It was another great week for our Speech and Drama students at the Bedfordshire Festival of Music, Speech and Drama, with BMS students being awarded the most placings ever across the board. More than 200 students took part, performing pieces from a variety of disciplines.

Notable mentions must go to Frankie Chapman for winning his class with judges marking his performance as ‘Outstanding’, and to Tom Ross and Georgie Leather who together won both the Shakespeare at The George Cups and The Soroptimist Trophy.

Head of Speech and Drama, Shelly Leather, commented: “Everyone should be extremely proud of their efforts; there were some very impressive performances. Congratulations to all the students involved.”

The Bedfordshire Festival of Music, Speech and Drama is an annual event which provides a showcase for the wealth of talent in the amateur performing arts in Bedfordshire and the surrounding area. The Festival offers a wide range of classes for all ages covering most musical genres including Classical, Musical Theatre, Jazz and Asian music, as well as many varied Speech and Drama classes including Verse Speaking, Acting, Mime and Improvisation.
