Welcome back and a very Happy New Year to you all. I have enjoyed welcoming back students and staff this week to what is a short but busy half term. It is a crucial time for our Year 11 students who start their all-important trial examinations.
During the past few months we have been busy researching, writing and refining a new strategic plan which outlines the direction and priorities for the School over the next five years. Its title reflects our mission; Inspiring Excellence. The plan has been created using feedback from parents, students, staff and the wider BMS community and I am grateful to the many people who have taken the time to participate in a variety of ways.
Our plans for the future are ambitious. Our four aims; to inspire, engage, encourage and cultivate will drive all that we do to ensure that BMS provides a truly modern and relevant education delivering excellence in all aspects of school life. Achieving these plans means thinking creatively but it does not mean losing our values or traditions because they are what make our school so special. A summary document and short film outlining our strategic intent can be found on our website, so please do take a look.
On Saturday we welcome some understandably quite nervous young people to take their Year 7 assessments. It is always a particular pleasure for me to be able to speak to as many of the boys and girls as possible on the day as they take the opportunity to learn more about life at BMS and to make new friends. Also this weekend those students interested in joining BMS in Year 12 will visit us and, equally, I look forward to getting to know them all better.
With a varied array of sporting fixtures and a wealth of dance, drama and musical performances taking place during the course of the next few weeks, I feel sure that we will have much to celebrate before this half term is over.
