Last Friday it was the turn of 5CH to share their assembly with us – and what a fantastic job they did! Their theme was “greed” and through a very amusing version of “Greed or No Greed” featuring King Midas himself, they conveyed their message extremely well and ended with such beautiful singing. Very well done indeed to 5CH and Miss Hendrie.
Despite being the penultimate week before we break for the Easter holiday there is still a lot going on in the diary. Fixtures continue to come thick and fast with 16 planned throughout the week.
On Wednesday morning we will be visited by the Hobgoblin Theatre Company for our Year 3 and Year 4 children. This is a literacy based show based on Robin Hood and I am sure they will learn a great deal.
Thursday will see us waving Year 3 off on their trip to Celtic Harmony in Hertfordshire. They are visiting as part of the Humanities curriculum where they study through from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. As part of the trip they will be absorbed into a reconstructed bronze age village which all sounds very exciting!
Next week we have our annual House Cross Country event which takes place on Monday 19 March during the afternoon. This is something for which the children have been training since the beginning of term and I am always particularly amazed by the resilience and determination of those who do not find such pastimes easy. They should all arrive in school wearing their Games kit and house t-shirt as, despite the awarding of individual medals, this remains a stalwart of the house competition calendar.
The children will have by now received a sponsor form for our Comic Relief Mile which is set to take place on Wednesday 21 March. The children have been asked to travel their mile in any way they choose and I am looking forward to seeing what they come up with. It is all in the name of charity and hopefully a lot of fun will be had at the same time!
This is our penultimate week in school before the Easter holiday begins. Please be aware that as it is the end of a full term, school will finish at 12 noon on Friday 23 March.
