It was a pleasure meeting so many parents and supporters on the sidelines for my first weekend of BMS sport. Both rugby and hockey made an excellent start to their seasons with the boys winning all their matches and the girls winning all bar one. I look forward to seeing more teams in the following weekends. Player and coach development is an important element of sporting success so I was delighted to see BMS host a hockey masterclass last Friday featuring Olympic gold-winning players.
In my assembly this week I commented on the number of opportunities on offer to the students and challenged them to take advantage and try something new. One such venture, the BMS Greenhouse Project, resulted in a runners-up award in the Green Schools Sustainability category of the Community Education Awards. Built in 2016, the full size greenhouse is made of 1705 recycled plastic bottles and is now home to various plants growing in recycled yogurt pots. I understand that it was a whole school effort to acquire the colossal number of bottles required.
I am grateful to students, staff and parents who give up their time to support the School in so many ways.
