Case Study: Year 13 Girl
Amy Flippant is in Year 13 having joined BMS in Year 10.
"At the time I had a brother at BMS and he was always saying how he loved the School. I also attended several Holiday Activity Courses and liked the atmosphere at BMS," said Amy.
Amy says that one of the nicest things about Year 13 is being one of the oldest students in the School. "There is more freedom and a more relaxed atmosphere generally in the Sixth Form, where students are spoken to at an adult level by staff," she said.
Having combined tutor groups of students from Years 12 and 13 also seems to be working well. "Having tutor groups made up of Year 12 and Year 13 students aids integration as we are able to form friendships across the social mix. When I began Year 12 it was useful seeing how the Year 13 students went about their UCAS applications," added Amy.
Amy has 10 GCSEs and four AS Levels including English Literature, Art, Philosophy and Spanish. "I am currently studying English Literature, Art and Philosophy at A Level with a view to studying English Literature at either York or Manchester University and then establishing a creative career incorporating art."
Amy has the following advice for anyone considering the School, "Definitely come to BMS. I recommended the School to a friend and she started in Year 12 last year. She has not regretted it. Just be yourself and follow your dreams."
When asked to describe life in the BMS Sixth Form, Amy replied, "Busy, vibrant and sociable."
