Sport and physical activity play an important part in school life with our students involved in over 30 different sports and more than 1000 fixtures during the year.  Staffing, resourcing and period allocation all reflect the high priority given to sporting activity within the School.

We have outstanding quality within our Sports Department with many
teachers and coaches recognised at national level within their respective sport.  The department has 13 full time and 6 part time staff dedicated to sport across both the Junior and Senior School and are supported by many academic staff who have specific expertise in one or more sports.

Aims:

  • To provide opportunity for all students to enjoy participation in sport and exercise.
  • To teach all students the values and benefits of exercise.
  • To develop personal qualities (e.g. determination, concentration, self discipline, confidence, teamwork, etc.)
  • To provide each individual with the opportunity to reach their full athletic and sporting potential.
  • To encourage lifelong activity in sport and exercise.
