BMS Parents' Association

What we do
All parents and guardians of pupils attending Bedford Modern School automatically become members of the Parents’ Association (membership is free). Parents are encouraged to attend the events that we organise and we welcome help with the planning and running of these events. Joining in our activities gives you the opportunity to meet and socialise with other parents.

The Aims of the Parents’ Association include:

Facilitating social interaction between parents and, where appropriate, between parents, governors and staff

Supporting the provision of information to parents

Engaging in activities which support and advance the education and experience of pupils

Providing funding which might not otherwise be available

The History of the Parents’ Association
In March 1923, Mr H W Liddle, MA, The Headmaster of the Modern School, invited parents to tea with the aim of establishing a closer and more personal contact between them and the School. On that afternoon, the Bedford Modern School Parents’ Association was formed.

Over the years the Association has given valuable, practical aid to the School in many ways and substantial sums of money have been raised and handed over each year for a wide range of equipment and activities.
