17 year old Ed was presented with his award at Bedford Corn Exchange on Monday 12 December where former Bedford Modern School pupil and Olympic legend Tim Foster MBE was one of the guest speakers.
Ed, who won a Silver Medal as part of the GB Men's VIIIs at the World Rowing Junior Championships in the summer, was one of a number of national and international standard athletes shortlisted for Bedford Junior Sports Personality of the Year Award.
As Captain of Boats at Bedford Modern School, Ed has become a popular mentor at the School for younger pupils interested in rowing.
"I really didn't expect to win the Bedford Junior Sports Personality of the Year Award and was delighted to win my award. Tim Foster congratulated me on winning the award and gave me some training tips.
"I hope to match and build on my success in 2011 in order to try and become Junior World Rowing Champion in August 2012 and also try and win Henley Royal Regatta as part of Bedford Modern School's crew."
Ali Brown, Director of Rowing at Bedford Modern School said: "I am so pleased for Ed, as he works so hard and deserves this award. Ed definitely has what it takes to become a future Olympic rowing star."
