Junior School Head's Blog week ending 3 February

Thanks to Charlie Lupton for visiting our Year 3 pupils and presenting his interesting and fun Build an Egyptian Pyramid workshop.  We look forward to welcoming Charlie back to the Junior School later this year for his Build a Tudor House workshop.  Find out more about the Egyptian Pyramid workshop at http://www.bedmod.co.uk/en/Egyptian Pyramid Workshop

A Saturday Surgery will be held on 4 February between 9.00am and 11.00am and, if there is anything you wish to discuss, please contact Kate Smith, Junior School secretary in the first instance.

Our Junior School sports teams have got off to a very pleasing start this term.  Congratulations must go to the Cross Country team who has already performed very well.  Our Netball teams have their first fixtures on Friday and Saturday and we wish them the best of luck.

The U11A and U11B Football teams recorded strong victories against Witham Hall last week winning 4-0 and 6-1 respectively.  The U9 footballers drew against Quinton House 1-1 whilst the U10As beat their U11A team 3-1.  What an impressive start!  The U11 and U10 teams have matches against Warwick this weekend whilst the U8 and U9 teams are playing The Grove on Friday.  Good luck to everyone involved.

The children will be meeting with their Houses this week to start work on the House Music Competition which takes places on Wednesday 8 February.  I am sure this will be another fantastic event in which every child will participate.

The Songmen (http://www.songmen.co.uk/index.php) will coach and lead the Houses as they did last year.  The Songmen are an international multi-award winning professional a cappella ensemble.  This year's theme will be for all weathers including famous 'weather hits' such as 'Walking on Sunshine'; 'Singing in the Rain'; 'Winter Wonderland' and 'Over The Rainbow'.  Each House will also prepare a soundscape on a weather theme.

Best wishes for an enjoyable week.
