Headmaster's Blog week ending 3 February

As I sit down in my study and glance at my calendar on my desk, I cannot believe that we are already at the end of January with only a couple of weeks until the February half-term break.  This week, I am busy writing Year 9 reports.

There are, of course, many activities and events planned between now and half-term and this week is no exception.  I am delighted that BMS is through to the quarter-finals of the Daily Mail RBS U15 Rugby Cup  We have been drawn away against Trinity School, Croydon and this will fixture will take place on, or before, 2 February.

A group of BMS pupils is competing in the British Schools Ski Championships and I look forward to their return to School and hearing news of their experiences and achievements.

This week, on Tuesday, our AS Geography students take part in a Geography Field Trip.  I look forward to seeing many of you at the first of our Year 11 Parents' Evening on Thursday 2 February.

On Friday, we shall be holding another of our popular Drop In sessions for senior citizens.  This is something the School has conducted for the last four years and we look forward to welcoming visitors who have been attending for the last few years in addition to seeing some new faces.

Why not visit the Howard Hall as it is transformed into Bedford's premiere Rock venue for one night only on Friday 3 February?  Student bands and soloists from across the School will have an opportunity to make a lot of noise and rock the house at this year's Rock Night.  The event begins at 7.30pm and admission is free.

The best of luck to all our girls and boys participating in various sporting activities over the coming weeks including Netball, the Water Polo U15 Schools' League, Athletics North Bedfordshire Cross Country, Fives, Swimming, Mixed Hockey, the Hampton Head, the Peterborough Head of Nene and the Equestrian Inter-Schools Cross Country.

I shall be holding a Headmaster's Surgery on Saturday 4 February between 9.00am and 11.00am.  Please contact my assistant, Julie Saunders, if you would like to call in and discuss anything with me.
