Headmaster's Blog week ending 9 December

So here we are, already beginning the penultimate week of the Autumn Term and with Christmas fast approaching; where has the time gone?  It seems only a moment or two ago that our pupils were celebrating their GCSE and A Level results.

This year, I have decided against sending official Christmas Cards and instead, Bedford Modern School will make a donation to the Brickhill Baptist Church Christmas Hampers Appeal.

As the days grow darker and shorter there seems to be more and more to accommodate into the rapidly dwindling time remaining between now and the end of term on Wednesday 14 December.

This week, Year 10 Theatre Studies practical take place on Monday 5 December whilst on Tuesday 6 December, BMS competes in the U15 Daily Mail Rugby Cup Round 6 against Cheltenham College.

There is much excitement in the Junior School this week with the Christmas production of 'Rumpled Beauty' taking place on Thursday 8 and Friday 9 December.  I for one am looking forward to this enchanting production where every pupil in the Junior School will be involved in singing, dancing and acting in what is sure to be an uplifting and fun occasion.

A warm welcome to all Old Bedford Modernians attending the annual OBM Christmas Lunch in the Refectory on Saturday 10 December.  Also taking place that day are the OBM Christmas Girls' Hockey matches and OBM Rugby Matches against our 1st Teams and I hope the weather is kind to everyone taking part.

Finally, what better way to round off a busy pre-Christmas week than at our Service of Nine Lessons and Carols in the beautiful and tranquil surroundings of St. Paul's Church, Bedford on Sunday 11 December at 6.30pm?  I hope to see you there.

Have an enjoyable week.
