Headmaster's Blog week ending 23 September

AS / A Level Theatre Studies' students will travel to the Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith on Monday evening to see 'Wild Bride'.

Year 11 Classical Civilisation students will be visiting the British Museum on Thursday in preparation for their GCSE Controlled Assessment unit, for which they have been studying Ancient Greek Pottery.  Pupils will be looking at the images painted on the pottery and will be able to see the brush marks made by the ancient painters working over 2,000 years ago.

On Friday 23 September, a fundraising quiz night for the U15 Rugby Tour to Italy takes place at 7.30pm in the King Room and tickets are available from Mr Hardwick.

Senior cadets from Years 11 to 13 in both the Royal Marines and the Army sections will participate in a Field Weekend on 24 and 25 September to train for the forthcoming Pringle Trophy and Combat Cadet Competitions respectively.  They are hoping for good weather at the STANTA training area in Thetford Forest to practice their drills and hone their skills before taking on the big boarding schools like Harrow, Shrewsbury and Winchester down at the Royal Marine Commando Training Centre in Devon.

As ever, a wide range of sporting events takes place throughout the week including Rugby, Girls' Hockey, Boys' Water Polo, Fives and Fencing and I wish all our girls and boys every success with their fixtures.

Finally, I am sure there will be a memory stir at our 25 Year Reunion of Leavers from 1984 to 1986 taking place on Saturday 24 September.  The event commences at 7.30pm and tickets are available from the Development Office at development@bedmod.co.uk priced at £25.00.  David Berry will be attending as a guest of the group from 1984.
