Pupils and staff raised over £1,000 towards the Children In Need Appeal following a mufti day at BMS. Although mention will be made in our Head of Junior School's Blog this week, I feel I must pay tribute to the tremendous effort made by Year 4 pupil Elizabeth Gale. Eight year old Elizabeth spent her weekend baking, making and icing cakes to sell at school raising £75.00 for Children in Need showing a truly selfless attitude and great commitment and organisational skills.
Bedford Modern School has a rich and long tradition of serving the local community and on Saturday 3 December we welcome senior citizens to our annual Christmas party. On Thursday 1 December, four of our Year 13 students will participate in the Bank of England's Target 2.0 Challenge. This is the 12th annual Bank of England and The Times Interest Rate Challenge with students considering many conflicting indicators in order to set monetary policy to meet the inflation target. Our students must decide if current monetary policy is appropriate or needs to be adjusted to meet the 2.0 per cent inflation target set by the Government.
I shall be holding a Headmaster's Surgery on Saturday 3 December and any parents who would like to speak to me about anything are more than welcome to drop in between 9.00am and 11.00am.
The massed choirs of the Junior School involving around 80 pupils are taking part in the Bedford Choral Society Christmas Concert at the Bedford Corn Exchange on Saturday 3 December. Tickets are available from the Central Box Office on 01234 269519.
Good luck to all the girls and boys from Years 10 to 13 competing in the Rowing Small Boats Head on Saturday 3 December.
Finally, the School is very proud to be taking part in The Salvation Army's charity Carol Concert at the Corn Exchange on Sunday 4 December at 5.00pm.
