The public GCSE and A Level examinations continue this week and we also welcome back our Year 12 students after their period of study leave.
The Senior School New Parents' Evening takes place on Tuesday followed by our Junior School production of "Witchwood" on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th June in the Christopher Fry Hall.
On Wednesday, we welcome back 70 old boys (and their guests) who attended BMS during the Second World War. It will be a pleasure to also be joined by many old boys who were evacuated to the School from Owen's Boys' School in Islington (now Dame Alice Owen's School in Potters Bar) during the war years.
The Harpur Trust Summer Party takes place here at BMS on the afternoon of Friday 17th June and a very warm welcome to all guests attending. I am sure you will have an enjoyable time and I hope the weather remains fine.
Good luck to all participants representing the School this week in a number of sporting activities including Cricket, Netball, Rounders, Boys' Tennis, Athletics, Golf and Girls' Water Polo.
On Saturday 18th June, we will be holding a Retirement Dinner for our six long-serving colleagues, Geoff Lavery, Nick Yelland, Michael Harrington, Monica Hetherington, Jane Thomas and Maureen Baker, who retire at the end of term. Interviews with each of these members of staff will appear in the next issue of The Modernian, published at the end of this term.
Finally, The Modernian Singers, our adult choir, will present A "German" Requiem by Brahms in the Howard Hall at 7.30pm on Sunday 19th June. Artists include Amy Carson (Soprano), James Oldfield (Bass) together with Alan Haughton and Justin Waters (Piano Duet). The performance will be the last one conducted by Geoff Lavery, Senior Deputy, so please do come along and support the event as it would be lovely to see the Howard Hall completely full! Tickets are available from the School Box Office on 01234 332664.
