Headmaster Blog week ending 9 September

No doubt many of you will already have noticed the new re-branding that is visible in a number of areas around the School site and features on the new school literature and stationery.  We wanted a design that was fresh and modern whilst also recognising the School's 250 year old history but equally, a brand that would appeal to future pupils and an identity our current pupils are proud to associate themselves with.

This week, individual pupil photos for selected year groups take place on Tuesday 6 September.  On Wednesday 7 September our Year 13 Parent and Tutor evening takes place.

The Bedford Modern School Parents' Association AGM takes place at 7.30pm on Friday 9 September in the Rutherford Building.  More information about the BMS Parents' Association can be found under the BMS Community section of the School website or via the parent portal.

Our new Modern Arts Brochure is in the process of being distributed and there are, once again, a glittering array of performance arts events to look forward to including Tea-Time Concerts; House Music; Theatre in Transit's production of 'Macbeth'; Speech & Drama Showcases; Bedford's Battle of the Bard; Cabaret Evening; Service of Nine Lessons and Carols; Christmas Concert and the Junior School Christmas production that all take place between now and the end of the year.

Having glanced through the brochure I am also very much looking forward to next year's School productions of 'Grease' and 'Beauty and the Beast'.

Good luck to all our girls and boys competing in a number of sporting fixtures this week including Rugby and Girls' Hockey matches.

Finally, Bedford Modern School Choir was recently invited to participate in a commemorative Songs of Praise service to remember the attacks on the World Trade Centre in 2001.  Staff and about 50 students from BMS were performing as members of the congregation at the Service in the Church of Christ the Corner Stone, Milton Keynes and the programme will be broadcast on BBC1 on Sunday 11 September.
