Headmaster Blog week ending 4th March

Welcome back to the second half of the Spring Term that sees our Year 6 pupils taking part in their annual Kingswood trip, learning teamwork, independence and some essential life-skills at the Kingswood outdoor and educational centre in Overstrand, Norfolk.

I am very much looking forward to meeting Malcolm Rose, author of the "Traces" series, who will be visiting the School on Tuesday 1st March.  Malcolm Rose will be speaking to pupils in Years 7 and 8 as well as holding a creative writing class and I would like to extend a warm welcome to pupils from the Bedford Academy who will also be joining us.

On the same day, our Year 10 pupils visit Shuttleworth Old Warden Park as part of an art trip looking at Shuttleworth's collection of aircraft and transport.

We have several events planned at school marking World Book Day on Thursday 3rd March including reading events for both pupils and staff at breaktime and lunchtime in the Howard Hall and the Library.  Later that day, the first of our Year 9 Parents' Evenings takes place.

Much sporting activity takes place throughout the week including a Rugby 7s Tournament, Netball, Water Polo, Football and Hockey fixtures in addition to BMS pupils representing the School at the Inter-Schools Ski Challenge taking place in Les Houches, France at the weekend.  Good luck to everyone involved.

Finally, I hope you will support our Rowing Quiz Night that takes place in the Rutherford Building at 7.00pm on Friday.
