Headmaster Blog week ending 25th March

I would like to begin by saying how much I enjoyed the production of Evita.  This is a challenging musical to perform and I am very proud of all our students who took part and displayed such exceptional talent, delivering a highly emotive performance.

A number of congratulations are in order, including our U11 Hockey Team who qualified to represent Bedfordshire in the Eastern Region Hockey Tournament on 24th March; our U12 Sevens Team who won the Nottingham High School Sevens Tournament and our U11 Football Team who won the Independent Association Prep School (IAPS) Football Tournament.

I am also pleased to announce that Bedford Modern School's Connect Catering company has been awarded a Five Star Award in the Good Food Hygiene Rating Scheme meaning BMS is considered to be one of the best and most hygienic places to eat in the county.

A host of trips and visits for pupils will take place this week including a Physics Masterclass in Cambridge, Times Spelling Bee Competition Regional Heats in Northampton, Classics Trip to the British Museum, History Conference in London, Young Analyst Competition at Hertfordshire University, a visit to Bedford College for a Sustainability Open Day and the Junior School Ski Championships in Italy.

On Thursday, pupils from Years 3 and 4 will perform a production called "The Peace Child" and, on the same day, our Politics Philosophy and Economics (PPE) Faculty hosts a PPE Conference with keynote speakers at the School, including the Economics Editor from the Mail on Sunday.

Our Junior School Sports Tour to Surrey departs on Friday and, at the weekend, there are, as ever, numerous sporting fixtures.
