Headmaster Blog

Welcome to my first Headmaster’s Blog.  This is something that I will be publishing each Friday to keep you up to date with events and life at Bedford Modern School.

S
o far, we are one of the few areas to be largely unaffected by the severe weather although, I remember when I took up my Headship last January, that the snow seemed to follow me to Bedford for my first few weeks!

I thoroughly enjoyed the recent Battle of the Bard Competition, hosted for the first time at Bedford Modern School, as part of our Shakespeare Festival, and am sure this is something that will be repeated again next year with a large number of local schools attending.

There is always something special about the Autumn Term and, with the end of another year fast approaching, and Christmas not far away, I am very much looking forward to attending the School’s Christmas Concert at Bedford Corn Exchange on Monday 6th December and the School’s Service of Nine Lessons and Carols in the beautiful setting of St. Paul’s Church on Sunday 12th December.

From my office in the centre of School, I have heard the Junior School pupils rehearsing for their Christmas production, “Countdown to Christmas”, and it promises to be an enchanting production, with plenty of humour.  My wife, young sons and I, are looking forward to watching it on Friday evening in the Howard Hall.

This Saturday, I will be holding another of my Headmaster Surgeries and look forward to meeting parents who have any specific concerns or questions they would like to discuss with me.

On Saturday lunchtime, I will be attending the Senior Citizen’s party being held at the School.  I know that many of the local residents look forward to the annual Christmas party at BMS where they will enjoy a traditional Christmas lunch, music and entertainment and receive a small gift, ensuring everyone leaves with a smile on their face!

Have a good week and keep safe in the snow.
