Jacqui Henry, General Catering Manager with Connect Catering at Bedford Modern School is celebrating after receiving a top Five Star Award.

"I was delighted to receive a telephone call from the Environmental Health Officer informing me that Connect Catering and Bedford Modern School have been awarded a 5* (top marks) in the Good Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (sometimes known as "Scores on the Doors".)  The scheme was developed by the Food Standards Agency in partnership with local authorities to provide information on food hygiene standards.

"This is a nationally recognised scheme and Bedford Modern School is now considered to be one of the best and most hygienic places to eat in the county.  We will be receiving a certificate shortly and this is a fantastic achievement for my team and the School," added Jacqui.

Jacqui joined Bedford Modern School in 2007 and has extensive catering experience of working within the independent schools sector having been appointed a Domestic Bursar at St. Paul's Girls' School in London and General Catering Manager at St. Helen's, Northwood.

"When I first visited BMS, I was impressed with the School Refectory in the Rutherford Building.  No self-respecting manager would turn down this state-of-the-art establishment and a chance to work in the award-winning kitchens at the School," said Jacqui.

Connect Catering is a fresh food company with food prepared and cooked on site and catering for over 900 people daily.  "We offer a four week cycle menu that is changed seasonally.  My team and I look at the menu structure carefully to ensure it is nutrionally balanced," added Jacqui.
