Junior Sport

Here at BMS Junior School we are passionate about our sport and this is reflected in both the curriculum time given and the extensive fixture programme provided.

During the week, all children are timetabled between 4 hours and 5 hours of physical activity, which is taught through a programme of Games, Key Skills, PE and Swimming.

In Games and Key Skills, the main sports are Rugby, Football and Cricket for boys and Hockey, Netball and Rounders for girls. The main focus of these lessons is to develop each child’s basic skills in a happy, productive and enjoyable environment, so they can thrive and maximise their potential.

We also place a huge emphasis on sports clubs and squad training during the week, where as well as training for fixtures, pupils have the opportunity to attend clubs after school. These include, athletics, badminton, cross-country equestrian, gymnastics, skiing, swimming, table tennis and tennis.

Teams and individuals from the Junior School participate very successfully in local, regional and national sporting events.  House matches also enable us to provide additional competition, enjoyment and excitement for all.

We hope that by the time pupils leave the Junior School they not only have a life long love of sport, but also appreciate the opportunities and camaraderie that flourish within such an enjoyable environment.
