Faculty of Science.
Head of Faculty: Mr Neale Else
The Faculty includes the disciplines of:
Biology
Chemistry
Physics
Psychology
We aim to make the sciences enjoyable and accessible for our students so that they may progress to further study at whatever level they chose.
The sciences are valued in the wider world and their study allows the development of skills which are highly sought after. Students will gain from their study of the sciences whatever they do and will hopefully become scientifically literate citizens who can make reasoned and responsible choices in their lives.
Years 7 and 8
Science is taught in topics which reflect a balance between Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The course focuses on practical skill development as well as conceptual understanding.
Years 9 to 11 (GCSE)
Biology, Chemistry and Physics are taught as separate subjects by specialist teachers. At GCSE students study all 3 separate Sciences.
A Level
We have large numbers of students taking the sciences and our academic record is excellent, not only in examinations, but also in preparation for university courses in Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, Engineering and the pure sciences.
Co-Curricular
To enrich our taught courses we offer a variety of activities and extension opportunities including the Olympiad examinations, Schools Analyst competition, lectures and events organized by the Science Society.
