Faculty of Humanities

Head of Faculty:  Mr David Kendall

The Faculty comprises three subjects:

Geography.
History.
Religious Studies and Theology.

More information can be found out about these subjects by following the links in the left hand menu.

Each of the three subjects has:

- Strong academic pedigree at BMS.
- Very high standards for each Year group
- Result at GCSE and A Level have contributed significantly to the good standing of the school.
- Each year the Humanities subjects send significant numbers of students on to the Russell Group Universities to continue their studies and our students frequently gain places at either Oxford or Cambridge.

The Faculty is also very closely involved in the Academic Enrichment programme that the school has recently launched. There have been a number of events that would not normally feature on the curriculum of any of the subjects that students have been able to attend.

- Year 9 students experienced the ‘Islamic Inventions’ exhibition in the Science Museum in London.
- Year 10 Geographers went to a Bio-Diversity Field work day at Loughborough University.
- Sixth Form Historians attended an intensive one day History Master Class.

The intention is to increase the number of these events so that all of our students may experience a broadening of their horizons though the study of these subjects.

We are a well resourced Faculty with a strong group of specialist teachers and we strive to provide the best learning environment that is possible.
