Faculty of Art, Design and ICT.
Head of Faculty: Miss Sian Milton
The Faculty is a partnership between:
Art.
Design Technology.
Information Communication Technology.
which creates an opportunity for cross-discipline projects and cooperative work. To view these subject pages click on the links in the left hand menu.
We aim to promote the individual strengths of each subject whilst reinforcing the common core of skills and knowledge that form the foundation of all three. Students are encouraged to see their skill sets and knowledge bases as portable, not just between the subjects that make up the Faculty but across the whole school curriculum.
- Offer combined courses which allow students to better match their studies to their skills
- Greater depth to the Students learning.
- Our Faculty Resources supplement our teaching and students learning experience.
As a result students develop a greater understanding of the correlation between skills and knowledge and their combined application to many different subject areas. This leads to greater diversity and creativity in their approach and helps prepare them for life outside education.
Art and Design Technology are compulsory in Years 7-8 and become an option subject in Years 9–13.
ICT is compulsory in Years 7-9 with students studying towards achieving their European Computer Drivers Licence (ECDL) by the end of Year 9. The ECDL gives students a GCSE grade B equivalent and is an industry recognised qualification.
All subjects are taught at GCSE and A Level and the range of subject options and exam boards is explained further on the relevant departmental pages.
Each subject is headed up by an experienced and enthusiastic Head of Subject. All Departments benefit from extensive technical support in the shape of three experienced, subject specific Technicians.
