Bedford Modern School's Boatclub had a successful weekend's racing on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 January.

On the Saturday, the BMS Year 11 girls took their new Coxed Four to race at the Cambridge Head to Head where they raced over the 4,000m course to win the J17 Coxed Fours. The crew comprised Lily Papworth, Katie McCraith, Hayley Geary, Tania Fulford and Sarah Coombes.

Bedford Modern School also contributed a large entry to the local Head Race organised by the Star Rowing Club on Sunday 22 January.  Both the BMS boys and girls achieved some great results with wins for the BMS J14 Boys' Octo comprising Bradley Peters, Kieran Smith, Jake Roberts, James Papworth, Matteo Di Niro, Jake Wilson, Ben Staniforth, Alex Waugh, Hugh Higgin and the J14 Quad of Miles McEwen, Kieran Smith, Sulaimaan Mughal, Bradley Peters and Hugh Higgin.

The BMS J15 boys including Fergus Dale (cox), Bruno Jones, Barnaby Hewitt, Dan Tredget, Guy Woolford, Simon Whitaker, Richard Herbert, Josh Taylor, Ollie Clarken went on to win in the Novice Eights category.

The BMS girls - Hayley Geary and Charlotte Sandy - recorded wins in their WJ15 Double Scull and also in the Novice Quad Scull of James Brown, Hayley Geary, Olivia Carstairs and Charlotte Sandy, coxed by G. Brand.

Bedford Modern School's Senior Boys also had some wins, Nicholas Edwards and James Carstairs won in the Novice Double Sculls and Fabio Titmus and Adam Dingley won in the Intermediate 3 Pairs.
